Sen. Scott Wiener

Scott Wiener is a California State Senator representing San Francisco and Northern San Mateo County and previously was a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Prop 64 has led to taxes that have been detrimental to compassionate care programs that provide free medical cannabis to financially disadvantaged people living with life-threatening conditions. In 2018, Sen. Wiener introduced a bill to exempt compassionate care programs from paying state commercial cannabis taxes when providing free medical cannabis to patients who can’t afford it.
